Intended purpose
Meyhofer chalazion curette is intended for use by ophthalmologists to remove the contents of chalazion and meibomian gland cysts from the eyelid tarsal plate following incision. The curette is applied to the everted eyelid tarsal plate. The oval curette tip evacuates the lipogranulomatous material through the incision without damaging the surrounding tarsal plate tissue. The device is reusable and requires validated decontamination and sterilisation between uses.
