Intended purpose
Stille-Crafoord haemostatic forceps are intended for use by thoracic and vascular surgeons to temporarily occlude blood vessels and control haemorrhage during open thoracic and cardiovascular surgical procedures. The forceps are applied to vascular structures within the thoracic or cardiovascular operative field. The instrument achieves vessel occlusion through mechanical compression of the lumen and adjacent tissue walls. The device is reusable and requires validated decontamination and sterilisation between uses.
