Intended purpose
De Wecker chalazion curette is intended for use by ophthalmologists to remove the contents of chalazion and meibomian gland cysts from the eyelid tarsal plate following incision. The curette is applied to the everted eyelid tarsal plate. The oval curette evacuates the contents of the chalazion through the incision without damage to the surrounding tarsal plate. The device is reusable and requires validated decontamination and sterilisation between uses.
