Intended purpose
Bone reamer is intended for use by orthopaedic surgeons to ream and enlarge intramedullary canals in long bones prior to intramedullary nail or prosthesis insertion. The reamer is applied to the medullary cavity of long bones within the orthopaedic operative field. The reamer enlarges the intramedullary canal in successive passes to the required diameter for nail or prosthesis fit. The device is reusable and requires validated decontamination and sterilisation between uses.
