Intended purpose
Desjardins gallstone forceps are intended for use by hepatobiliary and general surgeons to grasp and extract biliary calculi from the common bile duct or gallbladder during open cholecystectomy or choledochotomy procedures. The forceps are applied to biliary calculi within the biliary ductal system. The jaw configuration allows engagement of calculi in different orientations within the biliary ductal system. The device is reusable and requires validated decontamination and sterilisation between uses.
