Intended purpose
Gillies skin hook is intended for use by surgeons and plastic surgeons to engage and retract skin edges during plastic, reconstructive, and general surgical wound closure procedures. The hook is applied to the dermis at the wound margins. The prong penetrates the dermis to provide a controlled traction point on the wound edge. The device is reusable and requires validated decontamination and sterilisation between uses.
