Intended purpose
Ophthalmic fraise (burr) is intended for use by ophthalmologists to abrade the anterior ocular surface and corneal epithelium during ocular surface and pterygium surgical procedures. The instrument is applied to the corneal or conjunctival surface of the operative eye. The rotating abrasive tip removes epithelial and superficial stromal layers to a controlled depth during ocular surface procedures. The device is reusable and requires validated decontamination and sterilisation between uses.
