Intended purpose
Nail extraction forceps are intended for use by orthopaedic surgeons to grip and extract surgical nails, pins, or intramedullary fixation devices from bone during nail removal procedures. The forceps are applied to the exposed nail or pin end within the orthopaedic operative field. The forceps jaw is designed to engage the nail end for controlled axial extraction force without damaging surrounding bone or soft tissue. The device is reusable and requires validated decontamination and sterilisation between uses.
