Intended purpose
Coxeter prostatic catheter is intended for use by urologists to drain urine from the bladder through the male urethra in patients with prostatic obstruction or following prostatic surgery. The catheter is introduced through the external urethral meatus and advanced through the prostatic urethra into the bladder. The curved tip is designed to navigate the prostatic curvature of the urethra that may obstruct passage of a straight catheter. The device is reusable and requires validated decontamination and sterilisation between uses.
