Intended purpose
Weitlaner self-retaining retractor is intended for use by surgeons to retract and maintain separation of wound edges during open surgical procedures without requiring a surgical assistant. The retractor is applied to soft tissue within the open surgical wound. The self-retaining ratchet mechanism maintains consistent wound retraction without requiring continuous manual effort. The device is reusable and requires validated decontamination and sterilisation between uses.
