Intended purpose
Plaster cast breaker is intended for use by orthopaedic technicians and clinicians to crack and open plaster of Paris and synthetic casts during cast removal from patients. The instrument is applied to the cast surface. The spreading action creates controlled fracture of the cast material without generating excess force on the underlying limb. The device is reusable and requires validated decontamination and sterilisation between uses.
