Intended purpose
Pinard stethoscope is intended for use by midwives and obstetricians to auscultate fetal heart sounds through the maternal abdominal wall during antenatal monitoring of fetal wellbeing in pregnant patients. The funnel-shaped design concentrates and transmits fetal heart sounds from the uterine surface to the examiner's ear. The device is reusable.
