Intended purpose
Haemorrhoid ligator is intended for use by colorectal surgeons and clinicians to apply elastic band or ligature to haemorrhoidal tissue for the treatment of internal haemorrhoids by rubber band ligation. The instrument is applied to haemorrhoidal tissue above the dentate line via the anal canal. The ligature or elastic band is deployed around the base of the haemorrhoidal tissue causing ischaemia and subsequent tissue sloughing. The device is reusable and requires validated decontamination and sterilisation between uses.
