Intended purpose
Matson rib elevator and stripper is intended for use by thoracic surgeons to elevate and strip the periosteum from the rib surface and from the rib bed during rib resection and thoracotomy procedures. The instrument is applied to costal periosteum within the thoracic operative field. The dual-function design allows both periosteal elevation and circumferential stripping in a single instrument. The device is reusable and requires validated decontamination and sterilisation between uses.
