Intended purpose
Davidson scapular valve/retractor is intended for use by thoracic surgeons to retract the scapula and provide access to the thoracic wall during thoracotomy and posterolateral thoracic surgical procedures. The retractor is applied to the scapula and parascapular soft tissue. The blade design provides sustained scapular elevation to maintain thoracic wall access throughout the procedure. The device is reusable and requires validated decontamination and sterilisation between uses.
