Intended purpose
Tracheal hook is intended for use by surgeons to hook and elevate tracheal rings during tracheotomy procedures, maintaining exposure of the tracheal lumen for cannula insertion. The hook is applied to tracheal cartilage within the anterior neck operative field. The hook engages the tracheal cartilage to provide upward and lateral traction on the tracheal wall during cannula insertion. The device is reusable and requires validated decontamination and sterilisation between uses.
