Intended purpose
Van Buren urethral dilating bougie is intended for use by urologists to progressively dilate the male urethra for the management of urethral stricture. The instrument is introduced through the external urethral meatus and advanced through the penile and bulbar urethra of male patients. Dilators are used in a graduated series, advancing progressively in size to achieve the required degree of urethral dilation. The device is reusable and requires validated decontamination and sterilisation between uses.
