Intended purpose
Uckermann tracheostomy trocar is intended for use by surgeons to puncture and dilate the trachea during tracheostomy creation, enabling insertion of a tracheal cannula. The trocar is applied to the anterior tracheal wall in the neck. The trocar dilates the tracheal incision to the diameter required for cannula insertion. The device is reusable and requires validated decontamination and sterilisation between uses.
