Intended purpose
Tongue depressor is intended for use by clinicians to depress the tongue and expose the oropharynx for direct visualisation during oral and pharyngeal examination. Patient population: adult or paediatric as indicated by the size designation. The flat blade is introduced horizontally and rotated to a vertical position to depress the tongue and expose the oropharynx. The device is reusable and requires validated decontamination between uses.
