Intended purpose
Amniotome is intended for use by obstetricians and midwives to perform artificial rupture of the amniotic membranes during labour induction or augmentation. The instrument is introduced through the uterine cervical canal to the amniotic membranes of pregnant patients. The hook tip is designed to engage and tear the amniotic membrane without damaging the fetal presenting part. The device is for single patient use.
