Intended purpose
Standard trocar is intended for use by surgeons to puncture the body wall and establish a port of access for introduction of surgical instruments into the abdominal or thoracic cavity during minimally invasive laparoscopic or thoracoscopic surgical procedures. The trocar is introduced through the abdominal or thoracic body wall. The trocar sleeve provides a port through which instruments are exchanged without loss of pneumoperitoneum. The device is reusable and requires validated decontamination and sterilisation between uses.
