Intended purpose
Mayo-Hegar needle holder is intended for use by surgeons to grasp and drive suture needles during wound closure following open surgical procedures. The instrument is applied to suture needles within the operative field. The ratchet locking mechanism maintains consistent needle grip pressure throughout the suturing motion. The device is reusable and requires validated decontamination and sterilisation between uses.
