Intended purpose
Volkmann retractor is intended for use by surgeons and surgical assistants to retract soft tissue and maintain wound exposure during open surgical procedures. The pronged retractor is applied to soft tissue edges within the open surgical wound. The pronged design penetrates soft tissue edges to provide firm mechanical retraction without slipping. The device is reusable and requires validated decontamination and sterilisation between uses.
