Intended purpose
Spencer Wells haemostatic forceps are intended for use by surgeons and surgical assistants to temporarily occlude blood vessels and control haemorrhage within the operative field during open surgical procedures. The forceps are applied to vascular structures within the open surgical wound. The instrument achieves vessel occlusion through mechanical compression of the lumen and adjacent tissue walls. The device is reusable and requires validated decontamination and sterilisation between uses.
