Intended purpose
Halsted-Mosquito haemostatic forceps are intended for use by surgeons and surgical assistants to temporarily occlude small-calibre blood vessels and control haemorrhage within the open operative field during surgical procedures. The forceps are applied to vascular tissue within the open surgical wound. The instrument achieves vessel occlusion through mechanical compression of the lumen and adjacent tissue walls. The device is reusable and requires validated decontamination and sterilisation between uses.
