Intended purpose
Mayo operating scissors are intended for use by surgeons and scrub nurses to cut tissue, sutures, and dressings during open surgical procedures. The scissors are applied within or adjacent to the operative surgical field. The robust blade design permits cutting of fibrous tissue, sutures, and gauze dressings without blade deflection. The device is reusable and requires validated decontamination and sterilisation between uses.
