Intended purpose
Macintosh curved laryngoscope blade is intended for use by anaesthetists and emergency physicians during direct laryngoscopy for visualisation of the larynx and vocal cords in patients requiring orotracheal intubation or airway assessment. The blade is inserted into the oropharynx and advanced to the vallecula. The blade size is selected based on the patient age and anatomy to provide adequate tongue displacement and laryngeal visualisation. The blade is reusable and requires validated decontamination and sterilisation between uses.
