Intended purpose
Obstetric vacuum extractor cup is intended for use by obstetricians and midwives to facilitate vaginal delivery by applying controlled traction to the fetal head via vacuum suction during the second stage of labour. The cup is applied to the fetal vertex within the maternal birth canal. The cup generates negative pressure against the fetal scalp to create a traction point for assisted delivery. Traction is applied in the direction of the pelvic outlet.
